Fear The Walking Dead’s midseason finale was intense and it was the swan song for one of the original characters. Here’s how fans reacted to that shocking death.
Fear The Walking Dead’s first half of season 4 proved that the show could deliver the kind of engaging stories and character development that fans have been wanting. The first eight episodes of season 4 introduced new characters and shuffled two main characters off this mortal coil in a soft reboot.
Original character Nick Clark died in the first half of the season because actor Frank Dillane wanted to leave the show. But the midseason finale, ‘No One’s Gone’ killed off another original character. Madison Clark, the series lead for seasons 1-3, died sacrificing herself so that her kids could have a chance to live.
The reveal of her death explained a lot about why Alicia, Nick, Luciana and Strand were traveling alone. And it explains why Nick was so set on killing Ennis from The Vultures. Even though Madison’s death looked like it was going to be a sure thing fans were still hopeful at the beginning of the episode that she might have made it out alive.
But at the end of the episode it was shown that Madison went down fighting for her kids like the fierce Mama Bear she was. And of course fans had a lot of feelings about it. Here are some of the best reactions to the Fear The Walking Dead midseason finale and the swan song for our heroine, Madison Clark:
No one stirs up such deep emotions and tears in me like @DebnamCarey. God, what a performance. #FearTWD

Wow, @FearTWD! That took serious cojones. Mad respect for that choice, however sad it was. Major upside: There's no actor today who deserves to topline a series more than @DebnamCarey. This is gonna be awesome. Can't wait for August. #FearTWD

Next: Undead Walking is looking for new writers
Love her or hate her she carried the first 3 seasons of Fear The Walking Dead on her shoulders and kept her family safe. And Kim Dickens proved that women can carry a niche genre show as a lead. No one is safe in The Walking Dead world but it never gets easier to lose an original. RIP Madison Clark. And thank you Kim Dickens for carving a path forward for women in genre TV.
