Season  4 on Fear the Walking Dead the simmering anger of Alicia finally blew during the midseason finale as she contemplated killing those she believes responsible for her mother’s death.

In true Walking Dead fashion, burning walkers completed destruction of the stadium.  In the midst of burning walkers, we witnessed the unexpected death of Madison (Kim Dickens ) trying to save her children and the home that she is determined to save.

Kindness during the apocalypse will kill you.  Just ask Nick. He thought there was still hope to save Charlie (Alexa Nisenson). This wishful thinking got him killed. Alicia made the decision to go to “war” armed only with Victor (Colman Domingo) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) as her defense team.

Alicia’s journey to forgiveness is helped with words of inspiration from The Walking Dead crossover character Morgan. Pulling from his own Journey he shares that killing Naomi (Jenna Elfman) will not bring peace only a desire to continue killing and seeking revenge. Alicia lowers her pointed gun at Naomi, something changes within her. Will this remain? Will Luciana and Victor agree with this decision?

Alicia makes the choice not to kill Naomi and Charlie, for now, putting her in a space of letting go of some of the pain she’s experiencing with the loss of her mother.  Thinking back, Madison’s desire to find a place that would thrive and really have something for the future ultimately got her killed.  Leaving her children with nothing but a stadium full of walkers.

Losing a parent is tough,  Alicia didn’t accept her mother’s death and initially turned her grief into revenge. It appears she has turned the corner and decided to adjust to the new normal of accepting her mother’s death and break bread with her brothers killer.  This harmonious junction seems unlikely to last.
