Eastman

Another one episode wonder who turned Morgan’s erratic life upside down was Eastman. He lived alone with his goat Tabitha in the middle of the woods trying to effortlessly make edible goat cheese.

During season 6 of The Walking Dead, Morgan was far from stable after he left his apartment and began his journey killing both walker and humans alike. When Eastman found him he made it his mission to help Morgan seeing past his violent behavior.

As often as Morgan begged to be killed Eastman refused and over time Morgan began to heal thanks to Aikido. Throughout the episode “Here’s Not Here” Morgan learns how to use the staff as a weapon while understanding Eastman’s practice of sparing life, both good and bad.

Though Eastman came off as a level-headed and slightly stubborn man his tragic past involving the loss of his family thanks to one particular evil man and his act of capturing and starving that man to death proved just how damaged he was.

He was relatable, someone Morgan was able to understand and trust having lost his entire family and struggling to cope since. After Eastman gets bit saving Morgan from a walker, Morgan returned to the woods leading him eventually back to Rick at Alexandria.

Even after Eastman’s death, his teachings stayed with Morgan throughout the rest of season 6 and into 7. Eastman and Morgan became a pretty deadly duo against walkers and it’s not hard to imagine that if he had lived, the two might have found Rick and been a great asset on the defensive front.

Not to mention Tabitha would have been perhaps the first farm animal on Alexandria ground and it would have been great to see the group eat goat cheese and drink goat milk. But seeing the duo work together and teach others Aikido would have been a spectacular sight.
