#3: Deciding to be violent towards someone because they insult you.

I said that the whole “greed” theory wasn’t my only one to potentially explain Ennis’s decision to destroy The Diamond, well, this is my other one.

While the “greed” theory is certainly possible, it’s also possible that Ennis chose to destroy The Diamond not for their supplies (While Naomi proved some of them could have survived the flaming infected, much of the valuable things would have been damaged by fire and smoke), but, because Madison’s group simply refused to give up and refused to die.

Ennis certainly didn’t seem like the kind of person who took stuff too seriously (He didn’t just kill Nick after the encounter pictured above, for example. Had he taken things so seriously, he probably would have.), but, if this theory is correct, he apparently took things seriously enough to destroy The Diamond for the “slight” of Madison’s group surviving.

This sort of behavior suggests that the perpetrator is some sort of control freak or megalomaniac, and can’t stand the idea of someone “insulting” them or not doing what they want. This is not a good characteristic in a person. If they’re in your group, either drop them or convince them that what they’re doing will not get them what they want. If they’re not in your group, don’t bother negotiating: They’ll accept nothing less than total submission.
