Danai Gurira of The Walking Dead has a powerful workout routine

The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira finds time out of her busy schedule to work out and enjoy keeping fit. She shared tips of what makes a great workout.

In a Women’s Health interview, The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira admits that she is heavily into being physically fit.  Looking at her recent role in the blockbuster Black Panther, that is not surprising.

Her character Okoye is a lead guard in the Royal army.  She is sworn to protect her King at all cost.  As seen in the movie, Danai wielded a spear and performed several powerful defense movements that only an in shape actor could and should perform.

Danai has been with her trainer AJ Fisher long enough to know that their sessions will be nonstop and unforgiving but are guaranteed to garner the muscle and strength that is needed for her powerhouse roles.  Working on a routine invented by her trainer called “Corectology” that helps with muscle imbalances and improves strength, and cardiovascular function as stated by Women’s Health magazine.

How does Danai have time to work out with her extremely busy schedule?  She uses resistance bands while traveling and fits workouts into her nonstop lifestyle.  According to her trainer (Fisher) Danai focuses on her glutes in every workout session.  It is the biggest muscle in the body, and assist with posture and balance.

Danai grew up being very active in the outdoors which included running track, field hockey, and swimming.  Whew!  Talk about an active childhood.  Danai admits that she found joy in exercising by exploring a variety of workouts.

Danai would love for women and girls to experience the power of their bodies through exercise and focus on the positive benefits of what can occur if you exercise regularly.  She is constantly reminding herself to stay positive and exhilarated throughout her workout sessions.
