Lauren Cohan’s new series Whiskey Cavalier already has a big presence for San Diego Comic-Con as ABC debuts new trolley cars wrapped for the show.

It’s a sign of the times in San Diego that when the MTS trolleys start showing up wrapped in ads for television shows, then San Diego Comic-Con must be around the corner. This year, one of the trolleys features ABC’s new show Whiskey Cavalier, and the trolley has a giant picture of Lauren Cohan on it.

The trolleys are a great way to advertise the show to a large number of people given that they travel all around San Diego and even reach the International Border. While there’s no rhyme or reason to new shows surviving based on SDCC advertising there’s no question that all of the advertising helps to spread awareness and build name recognition for when the new shows debut in the fall.

San Diego Comic-Con is known (at least lately) for being a testing ground for new shows. Studios spend loads of money advertising new shows and getting feedback, so there’s a possibility that fans will have a chance to see Cohan’s new show in a special screening during the four day pop culture extravaganza in America’s Finest City.

Here’s the latest trailer for the new show:

Lauren Cohan fans will enjoy a double dose of Ms. Cohan as she appears in both Whiskey Cavalier and The Walking Dead in the fall. Though her contract for The Walking Dead has been truncated to accommodate her show on ABC, Cohan will still be part of The Walking Dead for now. She even talks about being part of two families in a tweet from May:

It’s important to remember how many new shows are axed every spring, so for now Cohan is smart to keep her place on both shows until she knows whether Whiskey Cavalier will take off with fans.

Next: The Walking Dead season 9 will play with time

For now, though, fans are getting an early look at the SDCC trolleys make their way through San Diego a month before the big event.
