Fandemic Tour, the newest fan convention on the circuit, kicked off this weekend in Sacramento and we had a chance to talk to CEO John Macaluso about the event.

For fans of The Walking Dead and other pop culture properties, Fandemic Tour offers a great chance for up-close panels, cosplay, shopping, celebrity meet and greets, autographs and photo opportunities. The first-ever Fandemic Tour kicked off in Sacramento on June 22, and it has been non-stop fun for everyone in attendance.

Undead Walking had a chance to chat with Fandemic Tour’s CEO, John Macaluso, who gave us some insight into the event and what he hopes to see moving forward for the event.

We’ve been watching the excitement build for the inaugural Fandemic Tour in Sacramento. What can fans expect at this exciting event?

A well-run, organized event that allows them great access to the celebrities and artists they are most excited to meet.

What are you most excited about in Sacramento?

This has always been a great town for comic conventions so we are thrilled to bring Fandemic Tour to the fans in the river city.

What makes Fandemic different than other pop culture conventions?

It’s all about the culture of the event itself. We want the bring together fandom and the comic convention family. So many of our guests look forward to seeing each other at these shows  and reconnecting with each other, especially the fan groups and cosplayers, in addition to meeting the celebrities and artists. The celebrities love it because there is such a great opportunity meet and interact with the fans up close. They feed off of that energy and appreciate their feedback and heartfelt questions about the characters they draw, or the roles they’ve played. Our artists have said that fan interaction has actually inspired story adaptations and changes because of their sincere and thoughtful questions and feedback.

Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan look to be excited to be part of the kick-off. They’re all over social media promoting it. Were they excited to be part of something new that gives fans another chance to meet their idols?

They are longtime friends of mine and they have given me great support in launching Fandemic Tour.

Talk about the fan experience at Fandemic. What is your primary goal for fans who come out for your events?

Enjoy themselves! We want them to feel appreciated and walk away wanting to share that experience with their friends and become one of our loyal fans.

Your photo ops are set at a very reasonable price point. Was keeping photo ops affordable a priority for you?

Yes, we want the fans to be able to access their favorite celebrities. we are all about the fans and making sure the have a great experience!

Will you be expanding to new locations in 2019?

That’s the plan!

Fandemic Tour heads to Houston September 14-16. Check their website for more information and to purchase tickets to the event.
