Preparation #4: Get all the supplies you can.

This, like so many of my suggestions, is something you can use regardless of whether your disaster is zombie-related or not. It’s something that’s such common sense, it can help you prep for any kind of disaster.

Obviously, in disasters, supply chains stop, and, resources quickly start to dwindle. In most natural disasters, this problem can be fixed over time, as roads and ports reopen, and trade resumes. However, this will not happen in a zombie apocalypse. To rectify this problem, you need to think ahead, and stock up on necessary supplies well before the dead start walking.

The thing you’ll need the most is fresh water; Depending on where you are, finding clean, drinkable water that isn’t in bottles may be extremely difficult, so grab as many bottles of water as you can. Next, you’ll need food that can last you a while. Canned food will probably last the longest, but, if you know how to pickle or can your own goods, that can expand your options.

Next, you should look into grabbing spare tools (Think axes, hatchets, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, scissors) as well as things like batteries, bullets, screws, nails, matches, candles, and light bulbs. You might not think you need them, but, trust me, you do not want to find yourself short on these items, especially if you plan on making a go of it at your home.

Finally, you should also stock up on thing like blankets, jackets, gloves, and comfortable sneakers. You don’t know how bad the weather might get, and you don’t want to freeze to death; Additionally, you’ll probably be doing a lot of walking and running, and you’ll want the most comfortable footwear you can get.

Some people might say “Less is more” but, in a zombie apocalypse, when so many essentials will be in such short supply, I’m inclined to think more is more.
