Preparation #6: Recognize the signs that something’s coming.

Have there been an uptick in strange “cannibal” attacks in your area/region/country? Has there been mysterious stories of people “coming back to life” recently? Has there been a sudden and largely inexplicable increase in extreme violence in your area lately? There has?  Well, congratulations! It looks like an outbreak of zombies is due to hit very shortly! Remember to stock up on essential supplies and map out your escape route, and, while you’re at it, don’t forget to warn your friends and neighbors!

But, in all seriousness, while it’s certainly possible it could sneak up you, chances are, if a zombie apocalypse were to hit, there would be some kind of signs before it reached the tipping point. Would these signs be immediately obvious? Not necessarily, but, that’s the point of this: To tell you what to look out for, so you can get a jump on things.

As said in my little mock warning earlier, if your area (Or worse, your entire country!) starts experiencing a sudden wave of inexplicable violence, that’s a bad sign. If you’re in a place that politically unstable, however, chances are, the violence has more to do with that than anything undead. Also, if you hear or see incidents of crazed people trying to bite other people and shaking off tasers or gunshots, pay attention.

Until recently, I’d tell you that’s your cue to run, but, after recently learning about some of these new psychedelic drugs and what they do, I’m not so willing to jump to that conclusion. However, if I heard the person the “Bath Salts zombie” bit suddenly started acting weird or violent, you can bet your ass I’d get ready.

Of course, even non-zombie disasters have warning signs. If you have someone in your group who you know had health problems, look for books on symptoms of said health problems. Things like heart attacks and strokes have warning signs if you know what to look for. If you do know, should things like this strike, you at least have some chance of making sure such incidents aren’t fatal.

It may not apply in all cases, but, you can be ready for some disasters if you know what the signs are.

This is why you follow…The Rules.
