Yvette Nicole Brown to moderate The Walking Dead panels at SDCC
By Sonya Iryna
Fan favorite and TWD superfan Yvette Nicole Brown will be moderating The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con this year.
Deadline reported on July 3rd that The Walking Dead superfan Yvette Nicole Brown will be moderating The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead panels in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con in just a few weeks. Traditionally The Walking Dead debuts the new season’s trailer during the panel and fans are very anxious to get a look at season 9 which will feature a time jump and some other big changes.
Yvette Nicole Brown will be replacing moderator Chris Hardwick, who stepped down from the panels while he deals with some personal and professional issues that have resulted in AMC suspending his Talking With Chris Hardwick show for the time being.
Fans are anxiously awaiting The Walking Dead panel at SDCC this year hoping that the network will finally either confirm or deny the rumors that series star Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan will both be exiting the show in season 9.
New showrunner Angela Kang will be on the panel, hopefully to reassure fans by giving them some information about the upcoming changes both in the direction of the storyline and the cast. Gale Anne Hurd and Robert Kirkman will be there as well. Cast members appearing on the panel include Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Norman Reedus. There’s also a possibility that some surprise cast members will there as well.

Talking Dead With YNB?
When the news of Hardwick’s suspension and his subsequent decision to step down from moderating at SDCC first broke fans immediately took to social media to ask the network to replace him with Yvette Nicole Brown. She has been a frequent guest on Talking Dead and her witty observations about the show as well as her notebooks about each episode have endeared her to the large fanbase.
The fanbase remains largely divided over Hardwick’s suspension but most fans would agree that Yvette Nicole Brown is the perfect person to step in and moderate The Walking Dead panels at SDCC. And she would also be the perfect person to take over on Talking Dead should AMC decide to replace Chris Hardwick on the popular aftershow.
If this truly is Andy’s last season on the show the fans will need the guidance of a true superfan like themselves to process the loss of Rick Grimes and Yvette could be exactly the guide that the fandom needs.
The Walking Dead Season 9 Trailer
The Walking Dead panel at SDCC is always a huge draw and fans who are anxious about the upcoming season are eager to find out what they can expect from the show. The many rumors and changes that have occurred since the season 8 finale have left the fanbase on edge and the panel would be a great time for the network and the showrunner to reassure fans that The Walking Dead will come through these changes with a clear path forward.
It would be unusual for the panel not to include the season 9 first look trailer and hopefully that trailer will be able to give fans a glimpse at what The Walking Dead might look like without Rick Grimes and possibly without Maggie Rhee.
