Rick

Last but not least the reason Rick is on the list is that this may be his final season on The Walking Dead. Rumors of his departure have yet to be confirmed which means the survivors may need him now more than ever.

Now is the time for Rick to make his final mark as a man who has lost the most important person in his life. His decision to spare Negan will be put to the test and already Maggie is not pleased.

Jesus and Daryl seem to share a similar approach which may mean Rick is in true mortal danger this time from the inside of his very community. If Rick is to calm the masses he will need to do more than throw simple threats and make big speeches.

He will have to show why saving Negan was the right decision in any way possible. This should include reading his letter from Carl and having everyone read their letters too.

Rick has to plead a case that just because one danger has been stopped doesn’t mean it will be the last. Perhaps taking a page from Negan’s book, Rick needs to reiterate that people are a resource.

In order to the survive they need people to fight back against walkers and other enemies. Negan, even when wounded proved to have had a lot of strength.

Adding that to his fearful way of keeping people in line, including other communities makes for an impressive resume. Rick would be foolish not to notice this.

Taking also into consideration Rick will have to keep a scorecard if he intends on keeping all of his allies in line. These include Oceanside, Jadis, The Hilltop, citizens of The Kingdom, survivors from The Sanctuary and even ex Saviors.

Rick’s plate became twice as full with even less room. He’s capable of making tough decisions and seeing through even blind rage.

If Rick intends on making Carl’s dreams a reality he will have a lot to prove. He needs to continue to allow himself to break down and grieve while being able to lead and be a beacon of hope for everyone he’s responsible for.

If this is Rick’s last stand he has to make it count and prepare the path for the next leader. This might mean trusting more even if it won’t come naturally.
