The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira has a slew of other projects on tap and one of them may be the next installment of the Godzilla franchise.

The Walking Dead cast has been involved in a lot of side projects over the years but almost no one has done more than Danai Gurira. She played beloved badass Michonne on The Walking Dead but she has also written a Tony-nominated play and worked on smash hit films like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War while also co-founding and championing the Almasi Arts group that is dedicated to giving artists and creatives from Zimbabwe the chance to tell their stories to the world.

Now, according to Deadline, she is in the early stages of talks to join the cast of the upcoming fourth installment of the Godzilla franchise reboot titled Godzilla Vs. Kong. She also could join the cast of a new Star Trek film.

Godzilla Vs. Kong is still in the early stages of casting but Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is already attached to the project as is Julian Dennison. Godzilla Vs. Kong is tentatively slated for release in 2020.

The third installment of the Godzilla franchise Godzilla: King Of The Monsters is set for release next year at the end of May in 2019. In that film, Millie Bobby Brown plays the daughter of Vera Farmiga’s character, a scientist who may have found a way to communicate with the giant monsters like Godzilla.

If Danai Gurira signs on for Godzilla Vs. Kong she won’t be the only The Walking Dead participant in the Godzilla universe. Elizabeth Ludlow, who plays high-ranking Savior Arat on The Walking Dead, will also be seen in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters next spring.

Michonne’s Future

There’s no need for fans of Michonne to panic though. Many of The Walking Dead cast members work on other projects around their filming schedules for AMC’s zombie survival drama, so taking other projects, even big projects, doesn’t mean that the actor is leaving the show. Now that Carl is gone it could be that Michonne will end up being the last person standing on The Walking Dead. There is no reason to think that Danai Gurira has any plans to leave The Walking Dead even though she has a lot of other projects coming up.

Michonne will be featured in an upcoming The Walking Dead Best Of marathon too so fans can look back at Michonne’s journey on the show. On Sunday, July 29th there will be a The Walking Dead Best Of Michonne marathon airing on AMC.
