The Walking Dead nominated for an Emmy for Red Machete series

While The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead struck out on Emmy nominations, the digital series of shorts titled Red Machete grabbed a nod.
It has become an annual tradition for the Emmy Awards to snub The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. Despite great performances from Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride, and others, the academy never seems to see the merits of AMC’s zombie survival drama shows.
However, where the Emmys do show some love to the undead is with the makeup, stunts, and technical awards, but the programs weren’t able to land a nomination in those categories this year despite submissions for consideration from AMC in hopes of getting some nods.
The zombie dramas did fail to bring home a nomination this year, but the undead will still be represented at the Emmy Awards thanks to the digital series Red Machete. Check out the video of the full series as shared on the AMC YouTube channel:
The six-episode series follows the story of the iconic weapon used by Rick Grimes to kill Gareth from Terminus, showing how the machete got from the shelf at the store to out in the field to deal with threats.
Starring Anais Lilit, Jose Rosete, Sofia Esmaili, Michael Wayne Foster, Jeff Kober, and Davi Jay, this digital series contains the most deaths of any of the previous webisodes released by AMC, including Torn Apart, Cold Storage, The Oath and the Emmy winning series Flight 462.
An entertaining story of an iconic weapon, Red Machete provided a lot of drama and intrigue in short bursts, adding up to a story that was told in only a touch over 7 minutes long and had enough excitement and heart-wrenching moments to keep viewers drawn to the series.

Congratulations to The Walking Dead on getting the nomination for Red Machete. While it would have been great to see AMC’s zombie dramas get a little bit of love for their efforts, Undead Walking will be rooting for this great digital series to bring home a win.
