The Walking Dead has not confirmed that Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the show officially but it looks like Andrew Lincoln may give a statement today.

The Walking Dead are ready and waiting for the season 9 trailer to drop later today but The Walking Dead panel at SDCC might also finally answer the question of whether or not Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show.

While rumors that Lincoln is leaving have been swirling for months there has been no official confirmation of the departure from Lincoln or from the show. However, Robert Kirkman seemed to confirm that Andrew Lincoln was leaving the show in an interview with Kevin Smith for IMDB on the first day of SDCC.

But now fans might get a direct answer to the question from Andrew Lincoln himself. According to Digital Spy, it seems that Andrew Lincoln may give a statement announcing his departure to the fans at the SDCC The Walking Dead panel this afternoon.

That would make sense considering that Andy has always given 100% to the fans and he knows how much the fans love Rick Grimes. It could be that there has been no official confirmation that Andrew was leaving the show because both AMC and Lincoln wanted to wait to confirm it until this SDCC panel when The Walking Dead season 9 trailer is released.

It will be sad to hear from Andy himself that he is leaving the show but if he does give a statement it will be good to have some official confirmation so that fans can start mourning the loss of the incomparable Rick Grimes as played by Andrew Lincoln.
