Fans react to The Walking Dead season 9 Comic Con trailer

The Walking Dead season 9 trailer was released at SDCC on Friday and fans were excited by the extended look at what’s coming up in season 9.

The Walking Dead season 9 trailer finally was released and fans got their first extended look at the many changes that are coming up for the characters they love and love to hate. Excitement over the trailer was slightly dampened by Andrew Lincoln’s announcement that season 9 will be his last season playing Rick Grimes but overwhelmingly fans were thrilled with the trailer.

The trailer showed some heartwarming moments between the members of Team Family and offered the first look at Glenn and Maggie’s baby. But it also showed some intense conflict between the community groups and hinted at more conflict to come.

Several of the characters from the comic appeared when Magna and her group including her girlfriend Yumiko, Connie, Kelly, and Luke. There will be more new characters showing up in season 9 as the story begins to focus on the rebuilding of society as well as the fight for survival. While there won’t be a formal battle storyline like there was in All Out War there will definitely still be some fighting between the groups.

The trailer confirmed that The Commonwealth will come into play somehow with a quick closeup of a sign reading “Commonwealth”. And another long-awaited comic storyline was confirmed too with the arrival of The Whisperers. At the end of the trailer, Eugene and Rosita are running from what looks like a herd. They cover themselves with mud and hide. As the herd passes by among the snarling of the walkers there is a clear snarl that says, “Where are they?”. The herd isn’t just a herd, it’s The Whisperers.

The Walking Dead is facing a huge challenge changing the direction of the story and having to adjust to the loss of Rick Grimes. But based on the trailer it looks like new showrunner Angela Kang is going to do some amazing things to start the new chapter of The Walking Dead. Season 9 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 8th.
