Dave Alpert, a producer from AMC’s The Walking Dead, will be lending his talents to a cinematic adaptation of the popular children’s story Rumpelstiltskin.

There have been many talented people how have worked on AMC’s zombie survival drama series The Walking Dead, with those individuals making their contributions both in front of and behind the camera.

One of those people is Dave Alpert, who has been an executive producer on the two undead television shows on AMC for a total of 125 episodes heading into the second half of Fear The Walking Dead as well as 15 episodes as a consulting producer on Talking Dead.

His resume is even more impressive when realizing he has produced feature films such as Norman Reedus’ Air, Jesse Eisenberg’s American Ultra, and the recently announced version of An American Werewolf in London.

But one of the most interesting projects coming up for Alpert is a live-action adaptation of the tale of Rumpelstiltskin, a unique character from the world of the Brothers Grimm introduced in Children’s and Household Tales in 1812.

Variety broke the news of the upcoming film, which will also have Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight), Matt Smith (Circle of Confusion), David Ginsberg, and Josh Weinstock as producers with Patrick Ness being tapped for the script.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Rumpelstiltskin approaches the daughter of a miller, telling her that he can spin straw into gold. However, his cost of providing such a service is quite steep and creates a horrible situation for everyone involved in the deal.

Adding even more appeal to the film is that Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will play the role of Rumpelstiltskin. Also known for his work on the tv show Nip/Tuck and the films Pixels and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dinklage has accumulated quite a following that should draw an even greater audience.
