Norman Reedus still gets help with scripts from Andrew Lincoln
Andrew Lincoln might be gone from The Walking Dead but he’s not leaving his dear friend Norman Reedus behind as he helps his friend with scripts.
Norman Reedus has a friend in Andrew Lincoln, and though they’re not leaving the show together as they vowed in a pact from a few years ago, Lincoln is still happy to offer advice to Reedus on The Walking Dead scripts. In a new interview from EW Radio, the duo talked about their close friendship and how Lincoln’s presence is still felt on set even though he’s not there physically.
“I still sneak him scripts,” Reedus admitted in the interview. “I ask him what I should do in every scene. And it’ll stay that way. He helps me all the time.”
The longtime friends shared a trailer at one point, and even when they had their own trailers they would frequently end up eating lunch together. That closeness, it would seem, isn’t going to end any time soon with the admission that Lincoln is still helping Reedus prepare for his scenes even though Rick Grimes has exited the program.
So close are the duo that they even had a plan to leave The Walking Dead together. “We made a pact. I think it was like season 3 or 4. We’re like, ‘If you leave, I leave. Right?’ And that was the thing,” Reedus noted. However, as the show approaches its ninth season it’s clear that Reedus is staying behind to pilot the ship in the wake of Lincoln’s departure.
The Walking Dead fandom was shaken to its core with news of Lincoln’s departure and the subsequent loss of Lauren Cohan (who recently explained that there is a possible future for Maggie beyond season 9, thankfully). Knowing that Reedus is still getting help from Lincoln helps with Lincoln’s loss, but nothing will prepare fans for when the actual moment to say goodbye comes along in season 9.
The Walking Dead returns October 7, 2018.
