Overall impression

It’s great to see an episode of Fear The Walking Dead open right up with the weather as being the initial worry. With so much focus on opposing humans on both AMC shows, it’s good to know that there are other forces at work making survival difficult.

However, the focus of the episode shifted a bit more away from what made the series so interesting and popular and instead chose to use a midseason premiere to feature Morgan trying to recruit people away from this show and bring them to Alexandria.

While it’s great that everyone shot him down, it’s a strange route to take considering Morgan should be wanting to stay with his new friends who helped him out of his rut. Also, he sees more work he can do with these survivors, but it is understandable that he misses his ‘friends’ he abandoned.

Still, half the episode was Morgan trying to get someone to come with him and the other half was creating scenarios to divide the survivors into small groups to force some interaction where there was previously hostility or indifference.

It’s not that this was a bad episode by any means, it just lacked the powerful punch that the previous episodes or even previous midseason premieres had for the show. However, it does set up the storm and what should be some interesting interactions between the characters, but it still left a lot to be desired.

EPISODE GRADE: 7.0
