The Bad

It’s hard to identify anything bad about the episode because it was so good. As bottle episodes go, this is one of the best even though we only saw two characters for the entirety of the episode. This was a moment that needed to happen. The show needed some kind of resolution between these two characters and this was the moment for it.

We still don’t know what happened between the point Charlie lost her parents and the point she met up with the Vultures. Honestly it might not matter now because it’s clear that she’s just as terrified as Alicia is and she acted impulsively when she shot Nick. No one is giving her a pass, to be sure, but given all that she’s been through it looks like Alicia can move forward. Her history with the Vultures might come up later, though, and it would have been nice to at least mention how she ended up with the Vultures so that it can be laid to rest and not become a problem that flares up later on.

In terms of unresolved issues, it’s not clear how Alicia could have walked away from Morgan unless he let her walk away and didn’t try to follow her. How did she manage to get so far from him, and where is he?

The impaled walker saving the day was a nice twist, but it was more of a narrative device than anything else. Though it was highly coincidental that the impaled walker “saved” anyone, on the plus side it gave the episode a moment of hope in the middle of such an otherwise dark episode.
