The helicopter will return in season 9 of The Walking Dead with Anne

Season 9 will bring a lot of changes to The Walking Dead but it seems as though Anne will still be in contact with her friends who have a helicopter.

There were many questions that came up during previous episodes of The Walking Dead which opened doors for future storylines to be developed. Whether it is building things like windmills, forcing a new leader at The Sanctuary, or the helicopter that appears to show up sometimes, there are some big questions left with no answer right now.

Thankfully, season 9 of the popular AMC zombie survival drama series will likely answer many of these questions, and a new image released on the official AMC website in an article speaking showrunner Angela Kang about hints for the upcoming episodes.

The image features Anne on the radio she used to communicate previously with the helicopter, but her look is much more toned down from when she was Jadis, the leader of The Scavengers.

Here is what Kang had to say about the helicopter and its significance to season 9:

"“Jadis has a new hairdo and clothing, but it looks like she might be up to her old tricks with the walkie and the helicopter. Or is she? And speaking of the helicopter, you might also notice the three rings symbol that’s appeared on various items at the Heaps before, and the ‘A’ we’ve seen crop up periodically. Yes, there is a meaning to both things. No, I won’t spoil it right now!”"

Those with an eagle eye will have spotted the letter below the door of the helicopter and the logo near the tail. This definitely isn’t the first time fans have seen the letter “A” be a prominent part of the show, so seeing that theme continue is interesting…especially since it hasn’t always been attached to positive things.

The logo with the three rings is very interesting, particularly to those who are gamers. The logo with the three rings could mean just about anything, but there is some hope that is could be connected with the video games based on the series since the logo for the gaming company is similar to the one on the helicopter.

Although it is likely wishful thinking on the part of those who love the interactive storytelling of Telltale Games that it would be connected to the world with Clementine, odds are that the logo instead is for a new community, maybe even the one approached at The Hilltop with the secrets for windmills, crops, and more.

The alarming aspect of this tease is Anne being in the woods with no other survivor nearby. Does this mean she’s still not letting the rest of the group in on what is happening with the helicopter or is this just a neutral location for whatever happens upon landing and some other survivors are nearby?

No matter what, a connection to an outside group, the intentions of Anne, and Kang hinting about the helicopter providing some items for the survivors will be a situation to watch unfold as season 9 of the The Walking Dead comes to AMC.
