What to expect from Maggie in season 9 of The Walking Dead

From the farm to the prison, and then Alexandria to the Hilltop, Maggie Rhee has had quite a long journey, and her journey is far from over on The Walking Dead.

Maggie has had a painful yet empowering journey on The Walking Dead and fans can expect to see so much more from her in season 9.  With Maggie leading the community of the Hilltop, there is a lot that fans can expect to see from Maggie when she takes on a daring point in her story.

Maggie is the leader of a community now and has to do everything that she can to protect herself as well as her community. This may even mean coming into disagreements with those who she strongly considers her own family. When Rick Grimes chose against killing Negan in the season 8 finale, this obviously upset Maggie deeply since Negan killed her husband Glenn Rhee. Maggie then conspired with Daryl and Jesus to at some point, take out Negan behind Rick and Michonne’s back.

Maggie will definitely have a huge storyline this season by leading a community as well as doing whatever it takes to protect herself and her people from anyone that she finds to be a threat.

The Walking Dead  showrunner Angela Kang spoke to AMC about a new look for Maggie and the Hilltop:

"“The most obvious change for Maggie is that her hair has grown out, but she’s also standing on the balcony of the Barrington House as if it’s home (which it is now), looking out at her thriving community, where we see several new elements within the walls. Comic book readers might recognize the communal tables and picnic area on the lawn below Maggie. To the left, we can catch a glimpse of the row of trailers, and the edge of a new structure attached to them. There’s a water tower… a gate is open to the outside. And there’s a goat!”"

Comic Book fans will also be excited to know that Maggie’s style this season is paying tribute to her comic book character, according to Angela Kang:

"“This is all part of the story of how much time has passed and the type of leader Maggie is and how Hilltop is doing relative to the other communities. (Oh, and the style of her shirt is a nod to Maggie in the comics at this stage of the story!)”"

It will be exciting to see where Maggie’s journey goes in season 9! She has become such a strong and compassionate leader and many fans have been waiting for this arc in Maggie’s story to happen.

Maggie deserves to get justice for Glenn. She has every right to. Hopefully, it doesn’t cause too much of a rift between her and Rick and Michonne. That’s why season 9 is going to be so interesting to watch because we will be seeing characters like Maggie, Rick, and Michonne possibly interact in ways that we haven’t in the past seasons.

This could definitely create for some very exciting episodes unlike anything that we have seen as yet!
