Fear The Walking Dead, The Code: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
14) Morgan marching down the highway as he reaches the bridge is reminiscent of the scene of Rick walking down the road way back in the very first episode of The Walking Dead, “Days Gone Bye”, as well as Nick marching alone down the highway towards Tijuana in the midseason premiere of Season Two of Fear The Walking Dead, “Grotesque”.
15) Jim may have the most optimistic outlook of any survivor we’ve yet met in either Walking Dead show, falling back to humanity’s history of surviving the Ice Age, and expanding across the planet to reassure himself that humanity will eventually reclaim the world.
16) Jim’s philosophy on beer is not inaccurate: The reason beer is such a staple of society, particularly Western society, is because, during periods like the Dark Ages, beer was a cleaner, more reliable beverage than water, which was often fouled.
17) Morgan is the second person to use a sign as a weapon against walkers, the first was Maggie back in The Walking Dead Season Four episode, “Alone”.
18) As Jim leaves a box at mile marker 134, it looks like the corner the group passed while they were looking for Ennis back in the season’s third episode, “Good Out Here”. Was it? Or is this just another case of the same locations being used for filming?
19) Who is the lady writing on the walker at the end of the episode? Is she the woman looking for “Polar Bear” over the radio? Also, is the walker (Purvis?) the trucker Sarah and Wendell stole the truck from? Did the lady kill him, or, was he dead when she found him? Did she know him before the outbreak? Did she care for him? Is she out for revenge against Sarah and Wendell?
And, with that, we’ve concluded our Things To Note for this week. Was there anything you missed? Was there anything I missed? Feel free to throw in your things to note in the comments!
