Review of Fear the Walking Dead episode 412: Weak
By Adam Carlson
Overall impression of FearTWD 412
As a whole, this might not be an episode a lot of fans enjoy. Much like the previous couple of weeks, “Weak” featured a look at a smaller number of cast members, particularly Al and June, both new characters who haven’t had as much time to grow a massive following.
Still, Maggie Grace and Jenna Elfman did an excellent job of playing off each other in an episode which was somewhat disposable with what happened throughout much of the show. The struggle with Al’s sickness and June’s internal struggle was great, but in the end, there wasn’t really a long-standing impact those storylines make, if they even last throughout the week.
However, having Al and June join back up with Morgan was great. However, there is still the need for other characters to come together, much like John, Strand, Luciana, Alicia, and Charlie (but hopefully not crazy walker lady).
Much like after the fall of the prison in The Walking Dead, having these episodes where everyone was separated and come back together can feel a bit forced at times, and this was one of them. Learning a little more about the characters and giving them some focus going forward is great, but learning so little in a full-length episode might turn off some fans.
With a dramatic ending to set up future conflict and part of the team coming together, the story can move forward toward what could be a powerful finale that is only four episodes away!
EPISODE GRADE: 7.1/10
