Fan favorite Daryl Dixon is a game changer on The Walking Dead. Over the past eight seasons, he outshined the rest by remaining loyal and selfless.

Daryl Dixon walked the fine line between wanting to survive on his own in the turmoil-ridden world of The Walking Dead while being the loyal warrior following Rick into battle. Over the course of eight seasons his actions, his non-verbal behavior spoke for him and his character.

From being the first person to search for a missing child to the man who refused to join Negan and his Saviors, it seems no matter what the apocalypse threw at him he kept moving forward. Beneath the angel-winged vest and back full of scars he’s the man ready to fight, no questions asked.

Often lying low and quick to enrage Daryl became a fan favorite almost instantly. Throughout every season he battled walkers and villainous people alike, trying not to get attached to people he cared about while wanting to be a part of their world.

Sometimes Daryl’s actions may have further complicated situations and caused mixed reactions such as whether he was to blame for Glenn’s death. But for every bad decision, which was far and few between, Daryl’s true self shined a multitude of times proving a book cannot be judged by its cover.

The list below narrows down Daryl’s glorious moments to only five. These are five moments where Daryl shined starting with perhaps the first time fans joined Team Daryl.
