Overall Impression of FearTWD 414

There were some deaths in this episode that made an impact during this week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead. Martha’s husband Hank was the first to pass away after nobody would stop to help her see if there was anything they could do to save him. Also, Jim got bit while getting a walker kill, although his role with the group is spotty without his beer making equipment anyway.

These two deaths did two things: added validity to Martha as a villain. Hank’s passing established her motive and explained why her mental health took such a wild turn in a short period of time while Jim’s death confirmed that she can be a threat and sets her up to be more dangerous in future episodes.

While this seemed like an episode focused on bringing people together both physically and emotionally, it sneakily set up what should be some epic showdowns between Martha, her unhelpful walkers, and whatever else she can find to use against those she deems to be weak.

There are some plot holes like the conveniently quiet walkers, not observing surroundings, and making a character a focus before their death, this was still an interesting episode that should make the last two episodes of season 4 extremely powerful as the two splintered groups hopefully find a way to get together and deal with Martha…somehow.

Still, this was a thoroughly entertaining episode with some good scenes with the undead, character development, and plot advancement which adds more mystery to how 415 and 416 will unfold.

EPISODE GRADE: 8.6/10
