Episode titles for The Walking Dead season 9A revealed
Episode titles for the first half of The Walking Dead season 9 are out and they offer a few hints about what’s to come in the new season.
The countdown to the season premiere of The Walking Dead continues and the latest revelation is the titles, writers and directors for the first eight episodes of season 9. There are some familiar names on the list, and most notably season 9 marks the return of a familiar face who is coming back to the show, but this time around he’ll be behind the camera.
Season 9 will no doubt be unforgettable as fans bid farewell to Rick Grimes. Andrew Lincoln’s departure looms large over the season, but there’s also a lot of excitement in the air as new showrunner Angela Kang takes over.
The Walking Dead heads into a bold new direction with a time jump that carries the show past the fallout from All Out War to a bright future full of possibility. But that’s not to say that the danger has passed. The Whisperers are coming and things are about to go to a whole new level.
Here’s the list of episode titles and their corresponding writers and directors:
901: “A New Beginning” Written by Angela Kang, directed by Greg Nicotero
902: “The Bridge” Written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, directed by Daisy Mayer
903: “Warning Signs” Written by Channing Powell, directed by Dan Liu
904: “The Obliged” Written by Geraldine Inoa, directed by Rosemary Rodriguez
905: “What Comes After” Written by Matthew Negrete, directed by Greg Nicotero
906: “Who Are You Now” Written by Eddie Guzelian, directed by Larry Teng
907: “Stradivarius” Written by Vivian Tse, directed by Michael Cudlitz
908: “Evolution” Written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, directed by Michael E. Satrazemis
Greg Nicotero will direct two huge episodes in the first half of season 9 with the season premiere and episode 905, “What Comes After,” which is the episode that has fans wondering if having the big guns behind the camera means that this will be Rick Grimes’ final episode.
Michael Cudlitz, the man who brought Abraham to life, is returning to direct the penultimate episode of 9A, and fan favorite Michael E. Satrazemis will direct the mid-season finale. It’s also worth noting that many of the episodes were either written or directed by women.
The Walking Dead returns on October 7 at 9pm on AMC.
