Was Jim Doomed From The Start?
It’s kind of surprising that Jim managed to survive as long as did. What do you think the necessary character traits to survive in that world?
Sonya says:
"I was very surprised that Jim had managed to survive that long. He must have had people looking out for him. There are a lot of traits that would be helpful to have when it comes to surviving in the apocalypse world but I think the primary trait that everyone needs to survive is adaptability. If you can’t adapt quickly to new situations and deal with new dangers then you won’t survive long in that world. "If you want to survive, you definitely need to know how to watch your back, and I don’t just mean from walkers. I wouldn’t easily trust everyone who I met. It’s best to not tell people everything about you and keep them guessing, kind of like how Carol did when the group first came to Alexandria in The Walking Dead. Good physical survival skills will get you far, but you also need to be really smart, and one step ahead at all times."
Sarabeth says:
"Jim was so stuck in his ways that he didn’t bother learning how to adapt. The most necessary trait in this world is being able to adapt on the fly. Without that, you’re a target. That’s why Charlie is a much better survivor than Jim. She’s a child, but she adapted."
