Fear The Walking Dead, MM 54: Things To Note

1) This episode gets its name from the stretch of road where Hank, Martha (a.k.a. “The Filthy Woman)’s husband died, Mile Marker 54.
2) When is this flashback taking place? At the beginning of The outbreak? Martha and Hank’s attire, Martha’s reaction to seeing her first infected, and her insistence that someone will help her and Hank seem to indicate as much.
3) This is the first episode of Fear The Walking Dead this season to feature a flashback to the beginning of the outbreak. Additionally, it is the second episode of Fear to feature a flashback of a character (Who is not part of the group)’s experience as the outbreak set in, the other being Season Two’s “Do Not Disturb”, which began with Elena Reyes’s flashback of the outbreak, wherein she trapped a wedding party with a growing number of infected.
4) What, exactly, caused Martha and Hank’s crash? An infected? The road seemed deserted outside of the two of them.
5) Hank’s cause of death — Blood loss from injuries sustained in a car crash — mirroring that of Clayton, a.k.a. “Polar Bear”.
6) Hank is the fifteenth named character to die this season, albeit much earlier than everyone else.
