In a season that saw Alicia Clark lose her family, Alicia came full circle by the time the Fear the Walking Dead season 4 finale came around.

It has been one hell of a season for Alicia Clark on Fear the Walking Dead. After losing her mother and her brother, she was forced to confront her dark side while being forced to co-habitate with the person who took her brother’s life. By the end of the season, though, Alicia was a new person with a mission to honor her mother.

No one lost as much as Alicia did in season 4. It wasn’t difficult to guess that Madison had died early on in the season, but Nick’s death was one of the most shocking moments of both franchises. What’s worse is that Alicia was forced to confront her brother’s killer and it didn’t help that it was the young girl that had betrayed them and revealed the location of the Stadium to the Vultures. By mid-season, Alicia’s group merged with Morgan, Al, John and June, and Charlie was there as well.

When Alicia and Charlie were caught in the hurricane, they came to realize that they’re both in pain and they have both suffered great losses, but Alicia also realized that Charlie was just a kid who lost her parents before she could ever see the beach.

This was a transformative moment for Alicia, who took it upon herself to protect Charlie because that’s what Madison would have done. She told Charlie about the beach and tried to take her there, but then they found Strand and John on the island instead.

By the season finale when everything looks bleak, Charlie rested her head in Alicia’s lap and if you didn’t know any better, they were sisters.

For Alicia, the journey to be a better person came as a result of great loss. She made a decision to not embrace the past and instead focus on rebuilding a brighter future, and taking care of Charlie is part of that. When Morgan proposes his plan to go out and help people, Alicia was quick to point out that they needed to be able to make the denim factory a place where the survivors can find solace, just as Madison did with the Stadium. At every turn, Alicia is honoring Madison to help keep Madison alive.
