No more live streaming on AMC.com after October 1
There are quite a few ways to tune into The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, but starting October 1 you might need to find a new way to watch.
If you’re like one of countless fans who watch The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead via AMC’s live stream on AMC.com, you’ll need to find a new way to tune in starting October 1 as the feature disappears and will require a downloaded app moving forward.
Under the current model visitors to the AMC website can login using their cable provider information and access a live stream. This is particularly helpful for West Coast residents who watch The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead online on the East Coast feed instead of having to wait until 9pm Pacific.
Now AMC will require uses to utilize an app to view live content. Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Sling are a few of the options suggested for use. If you already have one of these services then you don’t need to worry, as you’re already using the apps to access the live stream.

For those viewers who don’t have the apps, it will no longer be possible to simply log into the website to watch live TV on AMC. This is problematic because if you’re logging in with a traditional cable subscription then you don’t need one of the apps. The apps require their own memberships, which means an additional fee.
It’s unfortunate that AMC is pushing viewers to use an app-based service to utilize their live stream, but it also makes sense given that they’re also trying to push a streaming service of their one. AMC Premiere allows subscribers to access all of AMC’s content while also providing perks like early access to shows. In fact, the season 9 premiere of The Walking Dead is available to AMC Premiere subscribers a full 24 hours early and commercial free.
