NYCC 2018: More Alycia Debnam-Carey in Fear TWD season 5
Fear the Walking Dead’s landscape changed in season 4 but Robert Kirkman told NYCC fans to expect more from Alycia Debnam-Carey in season 5.
Alycia Debnam-Carey’s apocalyptic alter ego Alicia Clark has gone through the wringer since we first met the young woman back in season 1 of Fear the Walking Dead. Speaking at his New York Comic Con panel on Thursday Robert Kirkman hinted that fans of actress Alycia Debnam-Carey can expect to see more of her in season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead.
After losing Travis and Chris in season 2, Alicia lost her mother and brother in season 4 and has been trying to recover from the tragic loss while also trying to stay alive. The hurricane that ravaged Texas kept the cast separated for most of the second half of season 4, but it drove Alicia and Charlie (Alexa Nisensen) together in the most unexpected of ways.
Kirkman hinted that there will be more from Alycia’s Alicia in season 5:
Clearly there’s no useful information in that tweet other than the fact that he said it, but it’s indicative that the creators and showrunners know what fans want to see. The Alicia and Charlie bottle episode “Close Your Eyes” was one of the highest rated episodes of the season and featured dynamic performances from both Debnam-Carey and Nisensen.
Though Morgan has become the de facto leader of the Fear the Walking Dead crew, Alicia Clark is the OG of the series with Strand and Luciana behind her. Seeing more from Debnam-Carey would be a welcome addition in season 5 as the show focuses on honoring Madison Clark’s memory by seeking out survivors who need help and offering them support.
Given how strong her performances were in season 4, there’s no question that fans of the show and the actress will be happy to hear that there are plans for Alicia Clark to have more screen time in season 5. How that plays out is anyone’s guess, of course, but it’s still welcome news.
