The Walking Dead returns with season 9 episode 1, “A New Beginning.” Here’s your synopsis of the all-new episode airing October 7, 2018.

Eighteen months have passed since the events in All Out War and a new beginning is taking shape on The Walking Dead. Well, it’s a new beginning for the viewers because it’s the first time we’re seeing the post-war communities, but for the characters they have spent this time adapting and evolving and finding new ways to survive.

Season 9 is very different from the past several seasons, and the best way to describe it is that it feels much more like the earlier seasons of the show. For the fans on the fence about watching it, perhaps give 901 a try and see what you think. It’s so very different in both tone and story that it’s a lot of fun.

Here’s the episode description of The Walking Dead “A New Beginning” from AMC:

“Rick and his group make a risky run into Washington, D.C. to search for artifacts they will need to build the civilization he and Carl envisioned.”

Naturally the biggest news surrounding season 9 has been the impending departure of Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan. While Cohan’s departure isn’t necessarily permanent, the idea of losing Rick Grimes has been rough to say the least. Lincoln has been the backbone of the series since the very beginning and losing him will be a major loss, to be sure.

With so many cast members and a brave new world to explore, there’s a lot to look forward to in season 9, a great deal of which wasn’t possible before this point. The communities are thriving and there is a sense of stability and a optimism for a bright future.
