How Rick Grimes earned the nickname “The Famous Rick Grimes”

Rick Grimes has been busy making sure that the new world is a better place for everyone, and in doing so, he has earned himself a new nickname.

The Walking Dead season 9 premiere is full of new beginnings, new friendships, and lots of respect for the one and only Rick Grimes. Rick and his group are doing their best to make sure that all of the communities have what they need to survive and a lot of people are taking notice of Rick’s noble actions.

Michonne teased Rick in an intimate moment by referring to him as “The Famous Rick Grimes”. A nickname which is so representative of the newfound respect that some of the members from other communities have for Rick Grimes.

In the group’s visit to the Sanctuary in “A New Beginning”, one savior referred to Rick as “the man who ended the war”. Clearly, not all of the saviors were happy living in a regime under Negan. Rick is doing everything he can to make sure that he can help out the sanctuary and his actions are received with much gratitude from some of the saviors.

There is no doubt that Rick is bringing along his Sheriff Grimes mentality along with him in the new world. Just like a sheriff would want to bring stability and peace among his or her community, is exactly what Rick is doing here. He wants to make sure that people are happy and are getting treated fairly. He definitely wants to go back to the ways of making sure that good people get rewarded fairly and not have a criminal in charge anymore.

Rick even tells the saviors in his visit that he wants to bring some of that old-world mentality along with him:

"We are looking to the past to help us with the present, so we can help the sanctuary get back on its feet"

Rick knows that the only way to fix the dynamics of a damaged post-apocalyptic community is to go back to what he knows, his roots from the pre-apocalyptic world. It will definitely be interesting to see how Rick chooses to make decisions from here on out. Will he be wearing his sheriff’s hat again? Even if he doesn’t, Rick has definitely earned some gold stars with the saviors.
