The Walking Dead season 9 episode 2 recap: The Bridge
The Ring
Rick looks out at the peaceful camp that night. Everyone is playing and enjoying themselves. Carol asks Ezekiel if he still has the ring and she wants to try it on for a little while. He tries to get on one knee again but she stops him, even when he says he wrote a speech. (“I’m sure you did,” she tells him)

Back in the cell Rick says it was a hard, long day and they were behind schedule. But at the end of it things were peaceful. Rick attributes this to human nature, that they come together because it’s what they do. Negan says it’s a pretty picture and he can’t wait to see it. Rick says he’ll never see it, and he can’t believe that Negan never gets tired of pretending he’s in charge. But Negan doesn’t think Rick has it all “on lock.” Negan says Rick’s family is gone, just like his. Everything is a monument to the dead. Rick isn’t saving the world, he’s getting it ready for when Negan takes over.
Anne is on the lookout tower when she spots a light in the sky. Helicopter?
Justin the Savior walks along the road, drinking. Someone is in the bushes, watching him. He sees the person and says the person is lucky because he almost killed him, but it turns out he’s the victim as the mystery person swoops in and attacks. Bye, Justin.
