Who Should Decide Who Lives Or Dies?

Maggie said that not everyone can be redeemed, and Michonne asked her who should be the one to decide that. Who do you think should get to choose who lives and who dies?

Sonya says:

"I understand where Michonne is coming from and to an extent I agree with her. If it’s one person deciding whether or not to execute someone that person is more of a dictator than a leader, and the communities have had enough of dictators. They’re trying to build something better and that means that there should at least be a council or a group that decides. But I also think that sometimes tough decisions have to be made and an individual might be willing to make touch choices that a council isn’t willing to make. No one should have unchecked power though. That’s how leaders like Negan arise."

Sara says:

"For one single person to hold someone’s life in their hands is definitely way too much power for that one person to have. Certain circumstances might argue otherwise, but a better option would be on a group decision. I think the communities need to also have a set laws that are enforced and proper punishments for the crime. This way there is a mutual understanding between the leaders and their group members on what will happen if a rule is broken. Death might be better to leave off of the table unless the group decides that it is the best decision."

Sarabeth says:

"This is precisely why they need a governing council. They had something in place back at the prison where they had a group of people making decisions. With so many people across the different communities, it can’t be one person anymore."
