The Walking Dead 902 panel discussion: The Bridge
By Sonya Iryna
Is Rick Being Naïve In Assuming The Saviors Will Fall In Line?
Rick banished Justin from the group for not cooperating with the others. Do you agree with Rick’s form of leadership versus some of the others that we have been seeing?
Sonya says:
"I think it’s very important to Rick to make it work to fulfill his promise to Carl. He desperately wants to honor Carl by making his vision of a unified group of communities come true. Rick also wants to stick it to Negan and show him that The Sanctuary and The Saviors can work with the others peacefully. But I don’t think it’s working. He should have killed Justin as an example."
Sara says:
"I thought that Rick made the right decision by banning Justin from the group. I think the punishment was fair considering that he just told him to leave since clearly Justin wasn’t putting in his fair share into working well with the others. It does make me wonder if Maggie had kicked Gregory out from the Hilltop instead of killing him, would people have agreed with her then? I think Rick is moving in the right direction trying to maintain peace by having no more bloodshed, and it is a good system to follow."
Sarabeth says:
"I think Rick needs to learn that this doesn’t work well. There are a handful of Saviors who are out of control (as evidenced by the graffiti) and he needs to take a tougher approach. Rick seems to go soft at the worst moments."
