The Interesting Stuff from 903

  1. The porch wood. Removing the panels on the porch where Carl and Judith made their handprints and putting them on display in the house is a great touch. Seeing him put his hand on Carl’s print made the scene even more powerful. It’s details like that which really help this show succeed.
  2. Preparing Michonne for the next step. Since fans know these are the final episodes of Rick Grimes, someone will have to be the new leader. With it unlikely to be Maggie, that leaves either Michonne or Ezekiel as the obvious choices. Then again, the king would need to avoid what happens to him in the comics if he wants to be the new leader…
  3. A montage. Seeing Judith playing with Rick and Michonne was exceptionally touching. Much like the wood panels before, this scene is adorable, but knowing what is coming it can be hard to truly enjoy. However, the music was excellent to accompany to the fun imagery.
  4. An A or a B. Talking in code over a walkie is interesting and it sheds a little light on what is going on with Jadis in her former life with The Scavengers while opening up a new story with the helicopter. To add to the drama, Father Gabriel’s nosy behavior made him a key figure. Gabriel may or may not be a B, but we know Jadis is an A for sure…
  5. Safety first. Making people feel safe is a big part of this episode, yet they are out searching in the middle of the night with flashlights while the dead can be heard growling and search for flesh all around them. While the lives of the missing people are important, so are the lives of those searching for them.
