Chaos Erupts

There’s chaos as they look at Justin the Savior’s dead body. The construction site erupts into a war. Alden breaks it up and he’s accused of not being one of the Saviors anymore. He gets punched and Carol stops him from being hit again. After Judd taunts her Daryl steps in and says that this is why they don’t get guns. They start blaming everyone because all of the non-Saviors have reasons for killing them. Anne. Daryl. Gabriel. They all have a possible motive.

Rick rides in and breaks up the standoff at the camp. Alden pledges to find a way to make everyone safe, but there’s not a lot of confidence in that. Rick issues orders to keep working on the bridge and redirect the herd. After they disperse Rick asks Gabriel if he knows where Anne was the night before. They were on watch together.

Alden thanks Rick for helping out. Maggie walks up and says no guns are part of the deal. They need to figure out who killed Justin. Rick reminds Maggie that her deal is what forced the Saviors to be the majority of the bridge’s workforce and so they have a duty to protect them.

Gabriel finds Anne and he knows she’s upset. Anne insists she’s innocent and he believes her. He tells her that he lied to Rick about being with her the whole night, and he did it for her. He asks if she saw anything, and she in turn asks if he thinks she’s hiding something.

Rick finds Daryl sharpening his knives. He sits down nearby and Daryl knows what he’s going to ask. Justin’s wound makes it look like he was shot by an arrow. Daryl wonders if this is how Rick was when he was a cop. Daryl has no problem killing the man in plain sight, so it wasn’t him. He believes that this was bound to happen when they all came together and he wants to know if Rick was thinking about the welfare of the other communities when he made his decisions. Rick insists that they’re surrounded by death so they don’t need to add to it. He asks Daryl to show that he can forgive, too. After all, Rick left his brother to die on a rooftop and Daryl forgave him.

The group calls in their locations. Maggie and Cyndie report the walkers in their area. Cyndie says that there is a house nearby where they lived before founding Oceanside. Maggie decides to kill the walkers before more can come along. She’s going to draw them out. Cyndie starts clearing them and then she looks at the house, which is full of walkers. She falls through the porch, which triggers the walkers inside. They break down the door and start piling outside, almost overwhelming the two women. Rick and Daryl arrive with Rosita, who notes that Group 5 should have been there, too.

They track Group 5 and Beatrice is on the ground. She was knocked out from behind. Arat and her people are gone. Maggie finds Arat’s knife and walkie.

Back at the camp Rick and the group discuss finding Arat. They need to find her before the Saviors find out she’s gone. Rick also needs to figure out how to finish the bridge before the water rises. Jerry wants to know if the perp will go the way of Gregory or Negan but that’s unclear at this point. Rick tells everyone to pair up and go looking.

Carol and Rick discuss whether the Saviors should be part of this. Carol says that even she thought about ending it with them, but Rick won’t allow it. He wakes up everyday thinking he should go kill Negan, but he knows that won’t help. At this point he’s about making life, not taking it.
