The Walking Dead 903 recap: Warning Signs
Surprises
Daryl asks Maggie if she’s good with Rick’s decision. She’s not sure, but she knows that what Rick wants is better for her son and that’s what motivates her. They find a walker in the woods and then they find an arrow. Daryl realizes he knows who took Arat.
Anne searches the Heap. She’s got a gun and a flashlight and somehow the Heap isn’t nearly as inviting as it once had been. She finds a box covered by a blanket. She knew where to look. Inside is a walkie talkie. She calls in saying “It’s Jadis.” She knows they’re in range because she saw the helicopter. The voice on the other end asks if she has an A or B. She’s ready for her pickup, but what she has done is not enough. They need an A. Gabriel walks up and asks who she’s talking to. He wonders if she did something to Justin and she admits she has done “bad things”, but nothing to Justin. He realizes she was going to trade people for supplies. She gets emotional talking about how she has been trying but every time something goes wrong they think it’s her. She wants Gabriel to go with her. She extends her hand and he takes it. But he can’t tell anyone. He has to trust her and help her with her deal. He can’t do it. He has to be honest. She wants him to choose her and not Rick, but he’s not willing to do it. She says she thought he was a B, and then she knocks him out.
Carol and Rick hear walkers nearby and Carol spots Judd. Another Savior pushes her into Judd’s arms and he puts a knife to her throat. Rick asks if they’re behind the killings but Judd is after guns. Carol has her knife with her and she’s ready to kill him. Rick warns that if he hurts Carol there is no going back. Rick lowers the gun and Carol stabs Judd. They subdue them and Rick tells Judd to go back to camp to get fixed up. “Every life counts,” Carol says.
Maggie and Daryl visit another spot and there they come upon something unexpected: They find Cyndie and Beatrice getting ready to kill Arat. Daryl asks if they killed Justin that way and Beatrice says that he killed her husband, so yes. Cyndie says Arat is the last one they have to kill. She says they lived at the house in the woods when they first left the Sanctuary. Then the Saviors came and Simon wanted it all and he killed their men and boys. That’s when the women fled. Then Rick came and asked them to fight. They only went along with Rick until Maggie hanged Gregory, and that proved that Rick’s rules aren’t the only ones. Maggie can’t believe that her decision to kill Gregory led to this. Cyndie says Arat shot her brother on the spot. Arat says that she did it but only because Simon would have killed her too. But Cyndie reminds her that she smiled after making her beg for her brother’s life. She said “No exceptions.”
Maggie and Daryl know what’s about to happen and they have a choice. They make their choice: They walk away and leave Cyndie to kill Arat.
The next day the Saviors leave the camp and head back to the Sanctuary. It’s the only way.
As they head back to the road Maggie and Daryl talk about it and she says they gave Rick’s way a chance, but now it’s time to go to Alexandria and see Negan. Daryl agrees.
