The Walking Dead episode 903, “Warning Signs” delivered. Thanks to the continuous turmoil among communities, it was Arat’s death Maggie and Daryl allowed that turned heads.

While Rick was prepared to forgive the Saviors, Oceanside was not. Cyndie and the women of the community took it upon themselves to seek retribution against Arat in this week’s most memorable moment on The Walking Dead.

When word reaches the camp building the bridge that Savior Justin was killed, tensions reach their highest ever. While female Saviors Laura and Arat are trying to keep the peace, others push the limits Rick placed on them. To make matters worse Arat goes missing later that day.

To prevent an uprising the group splits to search for her before the rest of rhe Saviors find out. Together Maggie and Daryl venture into the woods to try to find Arat. When they do they were not expecting to find her helpless at Cyndie’s hands. It is revealed that Oceanside has been killing the Saviors involved in the massacre that ruined their lives.

Tear stained and terrified beyond belief Arat begs for Daryl and Maggie to save her. She claims she has changed. However, Cyndie is far from forgiving. In an equal amount of tears, she recounts the day Simon and the Saviors came and killed all of the men in Oceanside. This included Cyndie’s younger eleven-year-old brother. Arat was among the Saviors, and followed orders, “No exceptions.”

Hearing those haunting words Negan said before he killed Glenn was the final straw for Maggie. Disgusted with the story Maggie and Daryl turn around refusing to help, hearing her screams for one final time. Arat’s death is the week’s most memorable moment because of what it symbolizes. As one of Negan’s top Saviors, she obeyed his orders without hesitation. This includes the time she murdered Olivia seasons prior.

However, now that Negan is out of the picture she made the effort to be forgiven and trusted. Even Rosita appeared comfortable working with her. The point of the season thus far is trying to rebuild the world without excluding anyone. Arat should have been forgiven and spared.

Both she and Laura had been proving themselves to want to work with Rick. They tried to keep the peace and refused to fight back. That is evidence enough. If it was Rick or even Carol who had found Arat instead of Maggie and Daryl, they would have made the attempt to save her. But because both Maggie and Daryl cannot rid the distaste in their mouths for Negan and The Saviors, they saw that justice was finally served.

Seeing Cyndie and Oceanside take justice into their own hands against Rick, Maggie wants to revisit her plot for revenge. Her look of determination shows she means business. Arat’s death reminded Maggie of how much she wanted Negan dead for what he did to her husband Glenn. Having to listen to those two dreaded words, “No exceptions” was enough to bring her back to the reason why she couldn’t agree with Rick’s plan for the future.

The night her husband was killed reminds her how unfair it was that her son will grow up without his father. Maggie had been following Rick’s lead in rebuilding the new world with Negan behind bars. Now she has had enough of doing things his way. After seeing Oceanside kill Arat, it appears she’s not the only one who feels this way.

While Maggie’s decision in the season opener to execute Gregory without thinking twice about it fueled her revenge thirsty nature, it was Arat’s death that really made up her mind for good. Arat’s death will not only destroy any order Rick had among his own group but among other groups as well. Now that Maggie has her sights set on a truly defenseless Negan, any hope Rick had will be destroyed. He will be outnumbered and Negan’s fate may rest in his hands alone.
