A former cast member of The Walking Dead is joining the ensemble of the upcoming DC Comics television adaptation of the popular Swamp Thing comics.

Comic book shows are all the rage these days. With shows like Gotham, Riverdale, Arrow, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and others making headlines among fans and the media, sometimes it’s easy to forget that The Walking Dead got its start as a comic as well because of its success on television.

AMC’s adaptation of the zombie survival drama series has also been a jumping off point for many actors who have gone on be a star in shows and movies, and it appears as though another familiar face to fans will be getting another look in a big project.

According to Deadline, Jeryl Prescott will be joining the cast of the upcoming Swamp Thing show from DC to play the role of Madame Xanadu, a character known for being “a blind fortune teller with a mysterious past and supernatural perceptions that reveal the future.”

Fans of The Walking Dead will remember Prescott from her role as Jacqui during season 1 as one of the survivors in the camp outside Atlanta where Rick Grimes was reunited with his wife Lori and his son Carl. Jacqui made the tough decision to stay behind at the CDC and be devoured by the cleansing flames of the facility once living there was no longer an option.

Others may recognize the actress from projects such as Ray Donovan, Powers, and more, but it is her performance in The Skeleton Key which may have been instrumental in her landing the role as Madame Xanadu.

Prescott has attached herself to a solid cast for Swamp Thing, including Flashdance star Jennifer Beals, Crystal Reed, and Maria Sten according to Variety and horror legend Derek Mears from the Friday the 13th reboot, Sleepy Hollow, True Blood, Hatchet III, and The Hills Have Eyes 2 playing Swamp Thing.

The upcoming show will be shown on the DC Universe online subscription service and will be the third attempt to bring the franchise to the masses in the form of a television series.
