MVP from The Walking Dead episode 904: Honoring those you love

Season 9 episode 4 of The Walking Dead was a powerful installment of the AMC zombie drama series but one individual went above and beyond to be the MVP.

The Walking Dead did a fantastic job during season 9 episode 4 in setting the scene for the departure of Rick Grimes as well as moving storylines ahead involving Negan, Maggie, The Sanctuary, and Carol while giving fans plenty of action and drama to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

During the episode titled “The Obliged” there was plenty of great dialogue and story development making what fans know is coming even more difficult to accept and dreading for the next installment of the story.

However, one individual had to be the Most Valuable Person from season 9 episode 4 and after much consideration, a choice has been made.

The MVP from The Walking Dead 904 is Michonne!

Of course, Rick and Daryl’s situation and how they escaped the pit filling with walkers while arguing about Negan, the future, and Maggie were strong contenders for the award this week, but what Michonne was able to do was fascinating.

When presented with the news that Negan wasn’t eating, she made a deal with the former leader of The Saviors to get him to finally get some food in him. Of course, Negan took that opportunity to get inside her head to make her either frustrated, upset, or relate to him in order to appeal to her as a mother, lover, and human being in general.

Frustrated by his discussions about her son, she threw his food on the ground outside his cell and returned home, only to realize that wouldn’t be what Rick wants and it isn’t what she wants. She returned to the cell to listen to Negan’s story about his wife and his bat, finally leaving him his food before returning to work on the charter.

In doing so, she not only honored her commitment to the community, but she’s honoring the wishes of Rick and Carl in the process while looking ahead to attempting to bridge the gap between the people at The Sanctuary and the other united communities.

Of course, next week will focus on Michonne’s lover, Rick. It will be interesting to see who the MVP from that episode of The Walking Dead will be, but we’ll just have to wait and find out when the AMC zombie drama returns.
