We Need To Talk About Maggie

Should Maggie be allowed to kill Negan?

Sonya says:

"This is a hard one for me because I loved Glenn so much and I do kind of want to Maggie to kill him for revenge. But I also know that Rick is right that they don’t want to turn Negan into a martyr. And nothing is going to bring Glenn back. I think that Glenn would not want Maggie to kill Negan because that would change Maggie forever and he wouldn’t want that. So no, I don’t think that Maggie should be allowed to kill him. But I could be swayed from that."

Sara says:

"Maggie has every right to get justice for Glenn. Negan killed her husband and I don’t think that pain will ever go away. I also don’t think that she will be able go through with her plan to kill him because there is no way Michonne will let that happen. I think Maggie will end up distancing herself from Alexandria and the other communities because of this."

Jeffrey says:

"I feel that if anyone should be making that decision it should be Maggie. I agree with Jesus in that Rick was wrong to make that executive decision on the battlefield at the end of Season 8. The tricky part is that if Maggie kills Negan now, he will become a martyr. Frankly, this is one of the most complicated issues the show has ever dealt with in my opinion."

Sarabeth says:

"Absolutely not. After almost two years Negan has remained alive, and there are literally dozens of people who would probably love to see him dead. Maggie isn’t the only one who suffered great losses thanks to Negan, and she needs to realize that arbitrarily playing judge, jury and executioner on her own is not going to last."
