We Need To Talk About Negan

Do you think that Negan was being honest with Michonne when he was pouring his heart out to her, or do you think he was just trying to manipulate her into releasing him?

Sonya says:

"I think he was being honest. He was trying to manipulate her, but I think what he was saying in order to bond with her was real. And I think he does see Michonne and Rick too as being similar to himself. In a different situation they might have all been friends and allies."

Sara says:

"Negan is a big talker and a big manipulator as well, so I found this conversation between him and Michonne to be very interesting. While I do think that Negan wants out of the cell, Negan is in a very dark place with himself as well. I don’t think he has ever really grieved his wife’s passing hence the creation of “Lucille” and the destructive behavior that came along with it. I think being alone in the cell has been making Negan think a lot about his past and I think he might be finally addressing his inner demons."

Jeffrey says:

"I think there was some genuine parts to Negan’s spiel, specifically when he was talking about his wife Lucille. The fact of the matter is that Negan definitely wants to get out of jail and I believe he will do so by any means necessary. Negan knows how to play the game of survival, and this is just another example of him doing that."

Sarabeth says:

"I believe what Jeffrey Dean Morgan said about Negan. He doesn’t lie. So far, love him or hate him, he has never been untruthful. I have no idea what his motivation was with Michonne, because she’s obviously not going to let him go, but he was definitely testing the water."
