Rick Grimes’ days are numbered and the members of The Walking Dead cast, past and present, have put together messages for their friend and colleague Andrew Lincoln.

The Walking Dead family of actors came together for a special video message thanking Andrew Lincoln for being the backbone of the franchise since the beginning. Members of the cast, both past and present, appear in a video that features lots of pictures of Lincoln over the years and it’s a very fitting sendoff for the man who brought Rick Grimes to life.

The list of cast members included in the slightly longer than two-minute tribute is impressive considering how many of them are no longer on the show. Some of those current and former cast members include Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, IronE Singleton, Lennie James, Steven Yeun, Alanna Masterson, Danai Gurira, Michael Cudlitz and Josh McDermitt.

Reedus calls Lincoln “very dear” and considers him one of his best friends. They men have bonded over the years and Reedus credits Lincoln with making him a “better father, better friend, better actor.”

One of the most touching tributes came from Scott Wilson, who talked about his good fortune to be returning in a cameo role in season 9 long after Hershel Greene’s tragic death in season 4. Wilson’s appearance, both in the tribute and in season 9, are even more special after the actor passed away on October 6, the day before season 9 premiered and mere hours before the cast announced his return during their panel at PaleyFest in New York.

Noticeably absent from the tribute are Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Rick Grimes’ wife Lori Grimes, and Chandler Riggs, who played Rick’s beloved son Carl. Also absent is Melissa McBride, one of the three original cast members from season 1 still alive and well in season 9. Given how close all three actors are to Andrew Lincoln, it’s surprising that they weren’t featured in the tribute.
