The time to say goodbye to Andrew Lincoln is upon us with The Walking Dead episode “What Comes After” and the TWD Family needs to be ready for tears.

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is, without a doubt, an emotional roller coaster as fans say goodbye to Andrew Lincoln while also saying hello to a bold new era for the show. In order to prepare, the TWD Family should be ready for Sunday night with lots of Kleenex, hugs from furry friends and wine. Lots of wine.

In the interests of full disclosure to my TWD Family I don’t actually drink, but I can tell you that if I did drink then this is the episode where wine would be an absolute must. Once again AMC was kind enough to provide a screener for “What Comes After” and it’s a brilliant episode with lots of tearjerker moments throughout, so you’ll need plenty of tissues and lots of comfort items. So if wine’s your go-to comfort item, get the glasses ready. And be ready to pace yourself because this is one of those episodes where the action never stops.

Angela Kang has been masterfully guiding the ship since the season 9 premiere and now we have arrived at the moment where Andrew Lincoln’s path ends. The journey to say goodbye in “What Comes After” has some beautiful moments in it, including the previously announced cameos from Jon Bernthal, Scott Wilson and Sonequa Martin-Green.

The Scott Wilson scenes are especially emotional and gut-wrenching because seeing Rick and Hershel is powerful in itself, but these were Scott Wilson’s final scenes prior to his death on October 6.

In short, be sure to have lots of things that make you comfortable around you heading into “What Comes After,” be it wine, pets, friends and family or your favorite food. And Kleenex. (In fact, that would have been a brilliant partnership for this episode: The Walking Dead, brought to you by Kleenex)

There will be a lot to process after this episode, so be sure to check in with your TWD Family if you need to chat or vent. Some people will love this episode and it will be difficult for others to watch. With emotions running high, hopefully the focus will remain on Andrew Lincoln’s incredible legacy on the show after nine seasons and the future of the show with the remaining members of the cast that we know and love.
