The Walking Dead films based on Rick Grimes planned

On Talking Dead tonight Scott Gimple confirmed that full length TV films based on The Walking Dead and Rick Grimes are coming.

Sunday was a night of twists and turns that didn’t stop once The Walking Dead “What Comes After” was over. On Talking Dead immediately following Rick Grime’s last episode The Walking Dead universe’s content overlord Scott Gimple confirmed that AMC is developing several full-length TV films for AMC based on The Walking Dead. And three of them are all about Rick Grimes so don’t worry TWD Family because Rick’s story is far from over.

The films will continue the story of Rick Grimes, possibly following his story now that he’s being taken to the mysterious helicopter community with Jadis. Other films will feature the backstories of The Walking Dead characters and other locations and communities.

According to an interview that Scott M. Gimple did with EW The Walking Dead films based on Rick’s continuing story are already in production and are moving along swiftly. Jadis will also be featured in the films since they will be about Rick Grime’s new unfolding story and Jadis is the one that saved him at the end of his run on the original The Walking Dead show.

Currently there is a trilogy of films planned all featuring Andrew Lincoln and designed to take Rick’s story to an entirely new part of the post-apocalypse world. The Walking Dead universe will dramatically expand with new characters, communities, and narratives that will be introduced through the films that are based on Rick.

Rick’s Final Episode

It should be a comfort to fans that Rick Grimes will always be part of The Walking Dead universe and his departure from the original show is going to open up an entirely new world of stories about the apocalypse world. Hopefully at some point in the future Michonne will find Rick again, and he will get to see Judith again.

But even if Rick Grimes never crosses back into The Walking Dead show there is still so much story to tell and Andrew Lincoln will be bringing everyone’s beloved sheriff back to our screens very soon.
