The Walking Dead 905 panel discussion: What Comes After
By Sonya Iryna
Ghosts From The Past
Rick had a lot of reunions with some ghosts from the past in this episode. Which reunion was your favorite and why?
Sonya says:
"I thought Sasha’s speech to Rick was really beautiful but the reunion that was my favorite was Rick and Hershel. It was wonderful to see Scott play Hershel one last time and it was a chance to say farewell to Hershel and to Scott. It was beautiful and sad and yet gave some closure too."
Sara says:
"I loved all of the reunions, but my favorite had to be with Hershel. I think Rick really needed to hear from Hershel again to remember why he even continued his journey in the apocalypse. Hershel was always that symbol of hope and perseverance for Rick and their reunion was so necessary and very heartwarming."
Jeffrey says:
"I absolutely loved seeing Shane, Hershel, and Sasha back in the series. While I expected to be most moved by Shane and Hershel, I was brought to tears by what Sasha said to Rick. There is something so powerful about what Sasha said about every single character in the series having a role to play, and that the story isn’t about any single character. Sasha basically told both Rick and the audience that the story will be just fine without our fearless leader. This is a story that is only just beginning and will continue on without Rick at the center."
Sarabeth says:
"I loved seeing Rick and Shane. At their peak Shane and Rick were a great team and even when Shane was nearing the end of his run he was a balance to Rick’s optimism. It would have been fun to see Shane deal with people like the Governor or Negan. And when Shane asked about Judith it was adorable."
