The Walking Dead 905 panel discussion: What Comes After
By Sonya Iryna
That Time Jump
Do you think that the 6 year time jump at the end was necessary to launch the story forward?
Sonya says:
"I do. I know that it will be tough for some fans to adjust to such a big jump, especially since the season started off with a jump, but the end of Rick’s story really brought the entire first part of The Walking Dead saga to a close and I think a big jump was necessary to give the story a chance to reset."
Sara says:
"I do believe that it was. I still do think that with the time jump, we will still see the characters grieve and possibly search for Rick. However it also seems that they may have moved on from mourning and pushed on with growing their relationships and communities. I am especially excited to see an older Judith Grimes in action!"
Jeffrey says:
"I do believe the six year time jump is what was needed to propel things forward. I’m a little nervous about much of the mourning for Rick being skipped over. That being said, this opens up the story to have a whole new start and gives the show a refreshing look and feel. By having an older Judith out fighting and being more of an actual character, some of the void of Carl being gone is filled."
Sarabeth says:
"I know a lot of people will be upset that we’re not seeing the immediate fallout from Rick leaving, but I think it’s a good thing. Instead of being bogged down by endless searches, we can move forward and see how everyone adapted well after the realization that Rick isn’t coming back has set in."
