25 most polarizing The Walking Dead characters
By Sonya Iryna
23. Bob Stookey
At first, Bob Stookey seemed like a good asset to the group. As a former Army medic, he had skills that the group could definitely use. Medical skills are always in high demand in the apocalypse. But Bob was a broken man even before the apocalypse began.
His dependence on alcohol made him a liability to the group. The first time that his drinking was a problem was back in season 4 of The Walking Dead when the group went on a run to the Big Spot for supplies. Bob takes a bottle of wine, and then puts it back and end up bringing down the entire bottle display on top of himself. His foot gets trapped under shelves and bottles and a sitting duck for walkers. Daryl and Zach come to his rescue, but Zach ends up getting bitten and killed.
The next time Bob’s desire for a drink causes problems is when he goes with Daryl, Tyreese, and the others on a run to the veterinary school for antibiotics and other drugs to fight off the sickness sweeping through the prison. Bob is an asset to the group because of his medical training, but also a liability.
After they escape from the veterinary school, Daryl finds out that Bob didn’t grab any drugs or supplies, just a bottle of whiskey. When Daryl goes to throw the bottle away Bob puts his hand on his gun, threatening Daryl over the bottle.
While Bob’s weakness made him a poor team player who put others at risk it could be argued that he more than paid the price for his weakness. After all, he was ultimately bitten by a walker and then kidnapped by Gareth and his leg was chopped off and eaten by the cannibals from Terminus. Still, he makes the list for being weak and undependable. He got Zach killed and almost got others killed as well
